PREREQUISITE: Mathematics, Grade 8 or its equivalent
This course is the first year of Algebra and provides a foundation for higher-level mathematics courses. Topics covered include signed numbers, integer exponents, solving equations, systems of two linear equations in two unknowns, graphs, ratio, percent, and scientific notation. An emphasis will be placed on functional relationships and problem solving in real situations.
COURSE NOTES: This class is taken on the 9th grade campus.

Pre-AP Algebra I focuses deeply on the concepts and skills that are most essential for college and career success, so mastery of linear relationships is a major focus of this course. In Pre-AP Algebra I, students will:
Work with their peers to build math knowledge, persevering through challenges and making important conceptual connections.
Use authentic applications of math to model real-world problems.
Acquire the tools needed for making, testing, refuting, and supporting mathematical arguments.

This course will emphasize the study of geometric figures of zero to three dimensions and relationships between them. Students will study properties and relationships having to do with size, shape, location, direction, and orientation of these figures. Geometry will connect to Algebra and to the world outside of school through a variety of applications and settings.

COLLEGE COURSE NAME: Math 1314
PREREQUISITES: Algebra II and compliance with Texas Success Initiative (TSI)
This course covers quadratic equations, graphs, functions, systems of equations, matrices and determinants, theory of equations, inequalities, ratios and proportions, variations, sequences and series, and the binomial theorem.
COURSE NOTES: Students can receive both college and high school credit for this course.
Students must be enrolled in four high school credit courses and the dual credit course.
Each student is responsible for the college tuition fees and may be required to purchase college materials.
If taken along with College Statistics (Math 1342) (.05), this can count for a 4th math credit.
