The Race Begins
By: Emily McNally
Cross Country running is not for the faint of heart. Cross country runners are dedicated to their sport with countless hours spent running and training year round. This sport involves individuals and teams running anywhere from 4-12 kilometers on race day. The race can be on any surface or landscape such as dirt and grass. The participants race regardless of the weather. It can be hot, cold, or even rainy, but they still compete. Our 2023 cross country team has three seniors: Trey Curtis, Luke Galey, and Emile Van Halen. These seniors seem to have mixed emotions about this running season. “It’s sad to know that it’s almost over but a relief to know that the hard work is almost done,” said Trey Curtis. All of the seniors want to end with a bang and leave their mark on the JCCS Cross Country team.
