HISTORY OF ART
The origins of art can be traced back to the Prehistoric era, before written records were kept. The earliest artifacts come from the Paleolithic era, or the Old Stone Age, in the form of rock carvings, engravings, pictorial imagery, sculptures, and stone arrangements.

Mrs Elliot has been teaching our Fine Art Class for 6 years. She started the Art 2 class two years ago. She is an amazing teacher and a great artist.
What is your favorite part about teaching?
I love seeing that moment when a student "gets it" and starts feeling pride about what he/she is creating.
What is your reason for teaching?
I feel like teaching is really just a part of who I am. It's like I can't not teach (excuse the double negative, lol, it's for a point). I've tried pursuing other things in my career, but I've always ended up teaching, no matter what job I had. I would often end up training or teaching people how to do whatever the job was about. Eventually, I came to the realization that my place was teaching.
What's your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
Sweet potato casserole with a pecan crunch on top.
Do you have a Thanksgiving family tradition? If so, what is it?
We usually talk about what we are thankful for at our dinner, and then my daughter and I have a tradition or going Black Friday shopping early in the morning, not really because we want to shop for bargains, but because we have just always enjoyed doing it together.
What is your favorite fall sport?
Football.

Students in Art II have made some amazing art projects such as drawings of their own backpack and the shoes they wear. Art I students learn about the different types of art. Students started to learn what 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional artwork looks like and made it themselves.
Halloween Pumpkins
Lakeside mall Pumpkin painting Contest
The John Curtis Art II Class made "The Wizard of Oz" theme pumpkins for the Lakeside Mall Pumpkin Painting Contest. The pumpkins were placed on display in Lakeside Mall alongside painted pumpkins submitted by other schools from the New Orleans area. The artwork was judged, and people who visited the mall voted to select their favorite pumpkins. The JCCS pumpkins were voted 3rd place overall, with an award of $400. The JCCS pumpkins also won the People's Choice Award, with an award of $200.
