The focus of this trip is to provide students with a hands-on exploration of coral reefs, mangroves, and surrounding ecosystems. All activities are based on Gili Air, an island off the northern coast of Lombok. Students will learn about the island's species of flora and fauna that make up its coastal ecosystems. Students will also discover the immense importance of relationships between these plants and animals and what their roles are in the ecosystem. This program also will introduce JIS students to some of the global issues facing marine ecosystems and coastal communities.
