Find an Elder or Knowledge Keeper to take your students on a walk and share their oral accounts. You can even have your students listen to them sitting outdoors.
**Note protocols for Inviting an Elder should be observed. Take a look at page 11-13 of our Offering Protocol document from our Advancing Truth and Reconciliation in Education Toolkit.
Talk to an older person (family member, relative, neighbor). Ask them to share a story with you about how the past was and how it was different from today.
Research your neighborhood or a particular site/place/park in Edmonton. What did your neighborhood (school or residential) look like many years ago, what events happened there or nearby, what name did it go by?
