FET Subject Information

Number of subjects

In the FET phase a learner must take a minimum of 7 subjects comprised as follows:

• English Home Language – compulsory

• Life Orientation - compulsory

• A First Additional Language (Afrikaans FAL or isiZulu FAL) compulsory choice (except for learners who are exempted from taking an FAL).

• Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy – compulsory choice

• And 3 elective subjects.
