As per GDE policy, learners may only take additional subjects at matric level if they have written exams in them at grade 10 and 11 levels. In other words, a learner may not register for additional subjects in grades 11 or 12.
A learner wanting to take an additional subject must obtain written permission to do so from Ms Rattray and the relevant subject educator. Only learners in the top 25 positions in the grade will be permitted to take additional subjects, owing to the work load.
If a learner defaults on submitting assessments or writing tests and/or examinations for an additional subject, he will automatically be deregistered from that subject.
If you wish to apply for an additional subject, please submit an email to Ms Dietrich at edietrich@jeppeboys.co.za (cc Ms Rattray crattray@jeppeboys.co.za)
Please remember that an AP score is calculated on 7 subjects. No additional points are awarded for extra subjects.
Additional subjects are taught largely before or after school. In the case of Business Studies, Geography and History learners work independently and meet their teachers in the afternoon for guidance and support.
The following subjects are offered as additional subjects:
Business Studies (Entrance requirement is a ranking higher than 25 in the cohort.)
Geography (Entrance requirement is a ranking higher than 25 in the cohort.)
History (Entrance requirement is a ranking higher than 25 in the cohort.)
Further studies Mathematics (Entrance requirement is a Maths average above 80%)

Owing to practical requirements and/or the application-based nature of other subjects they are not offered as additional subjects.
