Week 2: 8/22-8/25
Throughout the week, we continued to build a culture of caring for each other and our classroom and work with basic musical skills through singing and playing instruments.
-Pre-K added a game called Who Has the Instrument, a musical question and answer game where students select a percussion instrument, hide it behind their back and sing “I have the _cymbals__” when asked “Who has the __cymbals?_”.
-Kindergarten began to explore rhythm through body percussion activities and playing hand drums during a drum circle.
-ELC began to explore the singing/partner game Sarasponda and rhythmic concepts like beat and meter through work with O Passo (The Walking Step, see: https://www.institutodopasso-en.org/)
-IA started to work on a pitched percussion arrangement of the pop-tune Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips
-Bridges students began bringing in an item to share with the class as part of a “Creative-Self Show and Tell” where we celebrate the many ways we express our creativity.
