Intermediate concert band

MU07-08 (State Course Number: 4168)

This course includes a balanced comprehensive study of music that develops skills in the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains.

Teachers Remarks: “The band plays at a variety of performances throughout the school community, including concerts, parades, athletic activities (football and basketball games) and other events which take place outside of the school day.  Additional financial responsibilities and performances are required.”

MU10 (State Course Number: 4164)

This course includes the study of the history, formative, and stylistic elements of jazz 

Teachers Remarks: "The jazz band plays at a variety of performances throughout the school community, many of which take place outside of the school day.  Additional financial responsibilities and performances are required." 

Prerequisite: Beginning Concert Band

Advanced Concert BanD 

MU09 (State Course Number: 4170)

This course provides students with a balanced comprehensive study of music, which develops skills in the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains. Ensemble and solo activities are designed to develop elements of musicianship.

Teachers Remarks: “The band plays at a variety of performances throughout the school community, including concerts, parades, athletic activities (football and basketball games) and other events which take place outside of the school day.  Additional financial responsibilities and performances are required.”   

Prerequisite: Previous band experience

Adv. Fine Arts - Music Appreciation

MU13 (State Course Number: 4260)

This advanced course is a fine arts music course offered for credit by an accredited postsecondary institution through an adjunct agreement with a secondary school or any other postsecondary fine arts courses offered for dual credit. 

Teachers Remarks: This course is dual credited through Ivy Tech for 3 credit hours (HUMA 118). Students must meet qualifying scores to receive college credit.  Students may be required to purchase a textbook. No college tuition is charged for this class. Students will be required to attend a live performance outside of class. Cost to the performance may be involved.

Dance Performance

MU06 (State Course Number: 4146)

Students develop the ability to express their thoughts, perceptions, feelings, and images through movement. The performance class provides opportunities for students to experience degrees of physical prowess, technique, flexibility, and the study of dance.  

Teachers Remarks: This group learns various styles of dance and equipment routines.  They perform with the Patriot band at events, including parades, contests, and athletic events.  Financial requirements as well as large extracurricular responsibilities are required.  This is an auditioned group.
