Principles of Agriculture is a two-semester course that will cover the diversity of the agricultural industry and agribusiness concepts. Students will develop an understanding and the role of agriculture in the United States and globally. Topics covered in the course range from animals, plants, food, natural resources, AG power, structures and technology, as well as careers.

This is a beginning course for all Agriculture pathways. The course touches on all of the agriculture courses.

AGRICULTURE STRUCTURES FABRICATION AND DESIGN

AG06 (State Course Number: 7112)

Agricultural Structures Fabrication and Design is a two-semester course that focuses on metal work, and agricultural structures. This course will allow students to develop skills in welding and metalworking, construction, fabrication, machine components and design while incorporating the engineering design process. Students will also cover safety topics for each area while demonstrating appropriate health and safety standards.

Advanced life science: foods

AG14 (State Course Number: 5072)

This is a standards-based, interdisciplinary science course that integrates biology, chemistry and microbiology in the context of foods and the global food industry. Students design and carry out food based laboratory investigations.

Plant and soil science

Topics found in this course are: plant taxonomy, components and their functions; plant growth, reproduction and propagation; photosynthesis and respiration and management of plant diseases and pests.

This class provides students with opportunities to participate in a variety of activities which includes lab work in both plant and soil sciences. Core 40 science credit.
