The magic of A Midsummer Night’s Dream continues to unfold in our classroom! By writing original stage directions and rehearsing key performances, we are honing our speaking and listening skills. The students are becoming quite the playwrights, adding detail to scripts that bring the forest to life. On Google Classroom, we have posted a script to one part of the animated version that we have based our learning on. Over the Easter holidays, practise this script with family and friends!
Over Easter, please focus on words from the year 3/4 spelling list. Children are expected to be able to spell most of these words consistently by the end of year 4. We recommend practising a few words that you find tricky each day over the holidays. Thank you!
TT Rockstars challenge:
Year 4 is at war! Battle against the other class on Times Table Rockstars - who will be victorious?
In Maths, pupils are currently consolidating their understanding of place value to ensure these core mechanics are fully embedded. We are continuing to reinforce the logical relationship between multiplying and dividing by 10, moving beyond simple rules to ensure every pupil can confidently articulate how digits shift across columns. By revisiting these concepts, the children are strengthening their ability to explain the "why" behind the placeholder zero and the scaling of our base-ten system. This period of consolidation is vital, as it transforms their initial learning into a permanent, fluent skill that they can apply to increasingly complex mental and written calculations!
Daily Reading
Remember to read every day and record it on boom reader.
Please remember that you can also add books that your child has read at home to boom reader!
Please help your children to become fluent with all times tables. Keep practising!

We would like you to become a history researcher at home! Choose one of the project tasks below. You will need to find out some facts first, then use your creativity to make something that shows what you’ve learned.
🏠 Project Task 1: The Master Builder
When the Romans left, their stone villas fell into ruin. The Anglo-Saxons preferred building with wood, straw, and mud. Look up what an Anglo-Saxon village looked like. What was a "Great Hall" and what was a "Grubenhus"? Build a 3D model of an Anglo-Saxon house using cardboard, twigs, or LEGO, OR design a "For Sale" poster for a wooden hut, listing all its features (like the thatched roof and the central fire pit).
🏺 Project Task 2: The Treasure Hunter
Anglo-Saxons were incredible metalworkers. Look up the "Sutton Hoo" burial ship. What kind of objects were found there? What do they tell us about how these people lived, what they wore, or how they fought? Use tinfoil, cardboard, or clay to recreate a famous artefact (like the Sutton Hoo helmet or a gold brooch). Write a "Museum Label" explaining what it is made of and what it was used for.
⛪ Project Task 3: The Storyteller
Britain changed from believing in many Gods (like the hammer-wielding Thor) to becoming a Christian country. Find out about St. Augustine or St. Aidan. How did these missionaries travel, and how did they help spread their new religion? Create a "Before and After" comic strip showing a village changing its beliefs, OR design a double-sided symbol: one side showing a Pagan symbol and the other a Christian cross.
⚔️ Project Task 4: The King’s Adviser
By the end of the Anglo-Saxon era, Britain faced a huge threat from Viking raids. Look up what a Viking Longship looked like and why it was so scary. Then, think about the year 1066—what kind of leader did England need to stay safe? Draw a detailed "Viking Warning" map showing where the longships might land, OR create a "Job Advert" for the next King of England in 1066. List the "Essential Skills" (like being a brave warrior or a wise leader).
