Successes and Challenges

I have been most successful at time management. Trying to balance a full school load in a major that requires a ton of studying and extra time on top of two jobs and an internship is not easy but it has taught me how to prioritize and manage my time well. I set aside roughly 5 hours on Monday to work on my internship work and sometimes I found more time in the week to work on it and sometimes I had an exam and needed to work less. I appreciate the flexibility Dr. Shin has given me so I am able to prioritize school.

Another aspect of this internship I feel has helped me is Dr. Shin has not hovered over me. She is always there to help me if I have questions and never belittles me for asking a "dumb" question, but instead leads me to the answer or gives me an example to follow. I proceed to work independently until I need help again or when she checks in on me for an update.

The most challenging part of this internship has been the process of the work I have been doing. When I first started and Dr. Shin presented the project I was being added onto I did not think it would take me more than 6 weeks (assuming I spent 5 hours a week on it). It is now the Spring semester and I am still working on that same project. I have learned patience and have used my attention to detail to ensure this project is done correctly, even it is taking more time than I had originally anticipated.
