Begin by taking a look at these slides, which cover the basics of covalent bonding.  By the time you've completed them, you should be able to:

  • predict which elements are likely to form covalent bonds

  • draw electron diagrams representing covalent bonds

  • predict the name of a covalent compound after looking at the chemical formula
