In this module, you will develop your understanding of the benefits of visual arts on mental wellbeing and understand the research behind it. Regardless of what age or subject you teach, this could have relevance and practical applications for you both professionally and personally. You will spend 30 minutes focusing on the research (one Ted Talk and one reading) and a further 30 trying some practical mindful art practices that could be easily incorporated into classrooms or your day. There is an optional extension activity if you wish to delve deeper.

Art provides many opportunities to express ourselves and help us make sense of the complex world around us. Ann E. Lawton believes that art has the potential to heal, transform and empower individuals and communities. He wants you to believe in your drawing abilities, and provides numerous exercises to help you get started.
