The arts are defined as dance, drama, music and visual arts.
In elementary our;
Performing art classes incorporate music, dance and drama.
Visual Art classes expose learners to a variety of visual arts experiences including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, textiles and photography.
The PYP describe the arts as being 'fundamental to the development of the whole child, promoting creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and social interactions.'
In the early years - art opportunities are largely discovered through exploration and play. As learners move through the school, they build on their knowledge and understandings as artists, musicians and performers. They continue to be exposed to a wide variety of individual and collaborative learning experiences and opportunities designed to encourage their creativity and self expression. We focus on learning through both RESPONDING to and CREATING art.
