Professional background: Sophie studied European Business Studies at Cambridge University, England and holds a Masters degree in Finance, Law and languages. She worked in London in Investment Banking on the trading floor for several years before moving to the private banking sector.
Sophie moved to Switzerland in 2008 when she got married and has been raising her three children from then on. Wanting to move away from the banking world and into the school environment she started teaching in Switzerland (in the local school system) the subjects German and English for year4 to year6 students in the Canton of Neuchatel.
Personal background: Sophie was born and raised in Bavaria, Germany. During her university and early working years she lived one year in Paris and 6 years in the UK (Cambridge and London). Sophie settled down in Switzerland in the Canton of Neuchatel with her Greek/South-African husband in 2008 and has been living there ever since and plans to stay there forever.
Sophie and Ari‘s three children spent their primary school years in the local system in order to speak fluent French and integrate in the local community (60km distance from ISL) and they decided to send their children from middle school onwards to ISL believing ISL offers them the best education for their children. Their youngest daughter will join ISL next August.
Sophie‘s family is very nature- and outdoor oriented and enjoy their life in the countryside with their animals.
Languages spoken: German, English, French
Swiss favourites: Sophie’s two favourite places are Neuchâtel (and its beautiful surroundings with the lake and vineyards and Jura mountains - all quite unknown to most Lausanners) as well as Gstaad with its gorgeous mountains and relaxed lifestyle, both her home places since 17 years.
