Mission Impossible

Unit One: Mission Impossible

August

Students in Grades PS-2 participate in 6 lessons during Mission Possible. The Mission Possible course is a giant obstacle course using the whole gym and involves approximately 9 lanes of obstacles that increase in difficulty level. The course rules include: staying on lines, keeping silent, not touching metal, and alternating taking the role of either a guard (observer) or a spy (participant). In order to develop strategies for successful completion of individual obstacles, students are expected to explore various obstacles which require perseverance and problem solving. The predominant physical skills focus on balance, agility, coordination and body control. The objective for each student is to successfully make their way through the entire obstacle course to earn their mission stripes (face painted stripes on each cheek). Modifications are made to certain obstacles for students who cannot successfully conquer an obstacle so all children feel successful.
