Dance & Jump Rope

The Dance and Jump Rope activities help to develop creative expression, rhythmic movement, musical appreciation and active listening skills. They are designed to help improve muscular growth and coordination; space and body awareness; and social skills in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Students learn a variety of dances including the Chicken Dance, Macarena, YMCA, Hey Baby, Conga, Limbo, Mexican Hat Dance, and the Superman Dance. Students in Grades 3-5, create their own dance, linking dance moves and their own moves to choreograph a dance to perform in front of their peers.

Students also develop and practice their individual, group and large rope jump rope skills. This is achieved through various skipping games, exploring and creating a short skipping routine for older grade levels.
