John Stupka - Ceramic Specialist






He has an MA in Ceramics which he got in America and brushed paths with some famous artist’s and has been at ISKL for 40 years. He teaches a range of art and design courses, from architecture, tech drawing, art foundation’s and Ceramic’s were his passion lies. In ceramics and he has built up a beautiful studio that his students enjoy producing fabulous ceramic piece in and learning from the master. He is always exploring new ideas with creative shapes and using glazes with expressive marks to stencils and achieving excellent results.

Will Simmonds - Etching Enthusiast

He has taught art & design in international schools in China, The Netherlands and Malaysia. He graduated from Falmouth College of Arts, UK in 2003 with a degree in Fine Art. He combines painting and printmaking in his artwork, and makes images based on a particular location or environment that strive to achieve a balance between abstraction and figuration. He will be conducting a workshop at the IASAS Cultural Convention on the method of drypoint etching.

Nalini Krishnan - Batik Expert

She has taught the Visual Arts across year groups K-5 at the International School of Kuala Lumpur for 15 years. She is passionate about art created by the different cultures, and here in the South East Asian region, there are abundant forms of cultural expressions represented through art. Batik is one of her favourite cultural expression. Her interest in Batik has had her and my students experimenting with the different methods of application producing creative work and infusing multicultural techniques that has inspired our artwork further.

Noor Mahnun Mohamed

Born in Kelantan, Noor Mahnun Mohamed lives in Kuala Lumpur. She studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig, Germany and graduated with a Masters in Fine Art. As a painter she has had several solo and group exhibitions. In 2000 she was the Malaysian artist-in-residence at Rimbun Dahan, Kuang, Selangor. She was awarded the Italian Government Scholarship in 2003 to study printmaking at the International School of Print and Graphic Il Bisonte, Florence, Italy. In 2005 she was recipient of the Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur Visual Arts Residency at Gunnery Studio, Sydney, Australia. She teaches Fundamentals of Art Criticism and Professional Studies at a local art institute. Currently she is working on an online ‘Digital Archive for Printmaking’ project initiated under the Asian Public Intellectual fellowship, a programme funded by the Nippon Foundation Grant.

Ian Davidson - Art Director

He graduated at Staffordshire University in the UK with a Printing BA hons degree. He carried on his passion for art into education with secondary students. He worked with students in England, then moved internationally to Thailand, Venezuela and currently Malaysia. He has a wealth of world experience exploring the wide range of cultures he has lived in. But he has a strong belief of observation and using a range of drawing skills he passes this on to his students to take risks with media. He also believes students should work from first hand observation before they take that to more creative imaginative level’s with the influence of other’s.
