Amy is an instructional coach with a focus on math. Her passion is making math meaningful and engaging for students by deepening their conceptual understandings and developing a positive "mathitude" (math attitude:) With a masters degree in elementary education, a bachelors degree in elementary ed and middle school/junior high ed and a minor in mathematics from Northwest Missouri State University, Amy has taught lst grade, 6th grade math and 4th grade.
Amy is here to support teachers in their implementation of the math curriculum- daily lesson structure, planning and pacing; interventions and enrichment opportunities; engaging students in math talk; digital resources; MN standards correlations; etc. Providing students with effective and sustainable feedback and exploring classroom management options are other examples of areas where Amy is available to provide coaching. Co-teaching lessons with teachers and their students is a possible strategy that could be used.
