To help determine if the BUILD program is a good fit for you, please review the BUILD program student criteria requirements before completing an application:
Are 18-25 years old when starting the program
Have completed high school with a diploma or equivalent
Complete a comprehensive application process including an independent assessment and interviews
Can function in a college setting with the level of support provided by BUILD
Can articulate and demonstrate faith in God
Are able to safely navigate campus during class transitions, mealtimes, and other extracurricular activities
Have practical reading, writing, and math skills
Demonstrate interest and motivation in attending the program
Have family support and desire to gain skills for employment and independent living
As part of the criteria for BUILD, students must meet the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) definition of Intellectual Disability (ID) including having a documented IQ score in the 70s or lower and demonstrating limitations in adaptive functioning.
IQ scores and adaptive functioning limitations are typically documented through either a school evaluation report or medical evaluation. Adaptive functioning limitations are also noted in the BUILD Application Functional Skills Assessment.

The Occupational Skills Program (OSP) is a nine-month certified Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP). Upon successful completion of the program, students earn a diploma. The program is designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities, focusing on competitive entry-level employment and transition skills needed to live independently. The program is geared toward individuals who can possess the ability to work competitive entry-level employment with training and support. Work experiences, as well as coursework are provided to give real-life, hands-on experiences in the workplace and the community. The goal of this program is to receive an entry-level job & live independently.

Admissions:
Students in Occupational Skills have documented disabilities and the ability to compete for entry-level job positions. All services required for independent living are secured by the student and family before the start of Fall Semester. Students may apply beginning on September 1st, the year preceding attendance in the program. Student interviews for applicants meeting program criteria begin in January. Interviews and acceptance of students are completed from January to April with new students attending orientation in late spring.
