Assists students with negative behaviors channel their energies toward positive behaviors
Assist students with ADHD and who are overactive by having them do a physical task and move around
Promotes student responsibility
It allows students with behavior problems and attention seeking behaviors to receive positive feedback and attention
When should it be done?
When students are hyper
When there is a lack of class unity and lots conflicts
When students have low self-esteem, low confidence, or a poor concept
When students are causing behavior problems
When students are seeking attention
When a student is withdrawn or keeps to themselves
When a student loses focus often and is easily distracted
How should it be done?
Talk with the student(s) you want to give jobs to and reiterate how important the job is and how important their participation is
Give lots of positive feedback while student is doing the job
Allow the student to have choices of several jobs to choose from
Having a job system for all students in the class is also a good idea because it promotes classroom unity, pride, and builds rapport
