NGAPS Focus:

Jane Goodall identified four possible areas for consideration in the NGAPS pilot:

1. Enhanced analysis of data collected through the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment.

2. Effective use of student portfolios to demonstrate learning through a balance of formative and summative assessments.

3. The impact of life-skills on academic achievement.

4. Effective methods for gathering feedback from parents.

The staff at the school has prioritized student portfolios as their main focus for their work with Dr. Magnusson. This portfolio will be a comprehensive assessment of student learning, based on a balance of formative and summative assessments. The faculty team at Jane Goodall, with Dr. Magnusson's support, continues to explore the various data collected through NWEA MAP testing and are building an understanding of how this data can support learning through inclusion in the student portfolio. Dr. Magnusson is also supporting the school by providing guidance in developing a parent survey tool that aligns with the IQS scorecard and the mission and goals of the school. Work is also being done at Jane Goodall, in partnership with EdVisions, to further develop rubrics to measure student progress of previously identified life-skills.
