Advanced Placement World History is like no other course offered at Neuqua Valley High School
The course covers thousands of years of human history spanning every habitable continent, from the days of the earliest human activities to the present.
Investigate sources. Develop and defend arguments. Debate ideas. Understand patterns. Explore how the world became the way it is TODAY.
AP World History will establish a bedrock foundation of both historical knowledge and vital, future-ready life skills.
Throughout the course of the school year, we debate, we put historical figures on trial, we make entertaining videos and memes, we tell terrible dad jokes. The fun never stops.
We prepare students to do well in their other classes, college, and their careers. Improving book and class notes? We do it. Improving analytical skills, reading comprehension, test-taking strategies, argumentation and using evidence effectively, speaking skills, and collaborative skills? Yes, absolutely, 100%, you betcha.
Save millions. Or at least thousands. By the way, 1,788 colleges give credit for scoring well enough on the AP World History exam, and NV students score far above the national average.
In case you were curious, here is a list of the 76 Illinois colleges that give credit for a 3 or higher out of 5 on the AP World Exam. Here is California. Here is Maine. Here is Arizona. Want to study in the tropics? Boom: Hawaii.
It is so important for students to learn about their own cultural background. Learn about a vast array of languages, cultures, religions, peoples, and regions, including, but not limited to: Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, the Mongol Empire, the Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphates, the Song, Yuan, Ming and Manchu Dynasties of China, Ghana, Mali, Songhai, Great Zimbabwe, the Mughal, Ottoman, and Safavid Empires and many civilizations of Europe.
We love World History.
We want students to take the course.
Thus, we've spent years asking for student feedback on how to improve our "product."
Take a look at some of the feedback we've gotten from students, feedback we've used to make the experience a better experience for all.
Learn about globalization, worldwide patriarchy, the economics of feeding a family, how our governments guide our lives in ways we may or may not appreciate, the sometimes terrifying relationships between countries, modern pop culture that matters to you like rap and hip-hop, sports and the Olympics, your morning lattes--the list goes on and on.
