Be sure you are in a safe location
Find a comfortable and quiet location conducive to learning and active participation
If you are aware that private/privileged information will be discussed during class, find a private location
Find a location with a stable and adequately fast internet connection
Check your surroundings for sounds, visuals, or other items that may distract others.

Charger
Phone (in case something happens to your computer/device and need to dial-in)
Check the audio
Check the video
Check the wifi/internet signal, strength, and speed
Check the battery charge of your device(s)
Give yourself enough time to troubleshoot and resolve any tech issues you may experience
Exit out of any programs, browser windows, or other files in your desktop that may contain personal, financial, or other information that you do not want shared with others in case you are asked to present.
Logout of all other non-IU Google accounts by visiting: https://accounts.google.com/logout
After you have logged out of all other accounts, log in using your IU credentials.
Each course in Moodle will have a unique code published in the navigation panel when in the course. This Google Meet code is published only to those students and faculty enrolled in that section of the course. Refer to the instructions for Joining a class on this site.
Participants should click on the Google Meet code box which will take them directly to their class meeting.
Please be sure to check this document regularly for updates.
Enter the Google Meet room no more than 5 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled time.
If you enter the Meet room prior to the start of the scheduled time and do not see the instructor, please leave the Meet room and return in a few minutes (but before the scheduled start time).
Try to be no more than 5 minutes late.
Mute your device by clicking the microphone button.
Note the dial-in phone number and code in case you experience technical issues with your primary device.
Be patient, this is a learning experience for everyone.
Be engaged. Nod or give thumbs up when others are speaking.
Unmute your microphone when when asked to speak.
Mute your device again when you are done speaking.
Even though we are not on campus, our school rules and expectations still apply.
Please review and follow the provided Core Rules of Netiquette.
Use Raise Hand to raise your hand and wait to be called on.
If a moderator has been assigned to monitor the chats, type your question into the chat.
Unmute your microphone and speak clearly.
Be mindful of your volume--those wearing headphones may feel discomfort if you are too loud while those using default system resources (especially in loud environments) may have difficulty hearing if your voice is too soft.
When responding to a colleague, always be courteous and respectful.
If you are in a Virtual Live face-to-face classroom, be sure to speak up if the classroom microphone is far from you so that your colleagues online can hear you
If you experience technical issues during the meeting, please a phone to dial-in to the meeting.
Alternatively, you may use a smart device to log in to the meeting again via a mobile app.
Do not stay out of the meet room simply because you encounter a technical issue. Have contingencies in place and use them when necessary.
