The Director of Behavior and Specialized Classrooms provides leadership and oversight in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of specialized classrooms serving students in self-contained settings. This role includes coordinating and delivering training and support related to behavior interventions within Special Education, targeted individual and alternate curriculum instruction, as well as guiding the launch and sustainability of programs aligned with student needs.
The Director also provides support for key initiatives, including STAAR-Alt, Extended School Year (ESY) services, and Transition Programming. Additionally, this position supervises the Charter Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Charter Transition Coordinator, and Specialized Learning Classroom Coordinator.
Through this supervision, the Director organizes professional development in areas such as behavior support, classroom and crisis management, de-escalation strategies, data collection, restorative practices, and behavior analysis—ensuring best practices are embedded throughout all specialized programs.
The primary role of the Speech and Related Services Coordinator for special education is to create, coordinate, and provide professional development and standard operating procedures in the areas of evaluation, FIE/REED and IEP preparation, Medicaid billing, and speech therapy at ILTexas.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and charter timelines, charter-wide. To include but not limited to:

Determine, develop, and provide professional development in areas of need related to the following areas to charter staff:
IEP documentation
FIE/REED, initial evaluation, re-evaluations, special requests.
Referral documents and/or process.
Parent request documents and/or process.
Evaluation processes, procedures, evaluation kits, and interpretation training.
Medicaid billing.
COSF
Consult with evaluation team members regarding specific questions or concerns.
Consult with parents, teachers, administration staff, special education staff, related service personnel, and other individuals with an educational need to discuss a student’s programming.
Be available for consultations and make recommendations regarding program/service needs.
Meet with parents as needed to ensure student success and meaningful parent participation.
Be available to mentor evaluation team members as needed and provide one-on-one training sessions as needed.
Maintain ‘Administrative’ status in the IEP program
Generate audit reports
Create and assign user accounts for Evaluation Team staff, related service providers, and contractors.
Build IEP bundle reports
Provide basic, first line, tech support for the IEP software program used by the charter.

Work closely with the Executive Director of special education and other directors to ensure transparency and cohesion across all areas of special education.
The Director of Special Education Compliance provides strategic leadership in ensuring the charter’s special education program aligns with federal, state (TEA), and local regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for assisting with the oversight of compliance systems, managing audits and corrective actions, leading resolution processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through professional learning and data-driven decision-making. The Director will collaborate with charter leadership, campus administrators, staff, and families to support equitable and legally sound special education services.
Lead and oversee all TEA Special Education Compliance workstreams, including State Performance Plan Indicators, corrective actions, and TEA Self-Assessments.
Direct the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of systems and tools to monitor special education compliance across all campuses.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of all TEA-required documentation and corrective action evidence, maintaining exceptional standards for audit readiness.
Assist in supervising the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to IEP implementation, parent complaints, critical cases, and program effectiveness.
Coordinate and facilitate high-level resolution meetings in collaboration with legal counsel and leadership to address IEP compliance concerns, TEA findings, or critical cases.
Assist with internal investigations related to TEA parent complaints and ensure compliance with all due process procedures and timelines.
Direct the development and delivery of targeted professional learning plans and resources to ensure all personnel are trained in special education operating procedures and compliance standards.
Collaborate with school leaders, special education staff, and central office departments to support implementation of evidence-based practices and promote alignment with strategic improvement plans.
Maintain active communication with TEA and internal stakeholders regarding the progress and status of investigations, audits, and compliance initiatives.
Assist with managing a team of campus compliance coordinators and support staff; provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
