The In-Class Support model is one in which the special education teacher or other professional works collaboratively with the general education teacher to meet the needs of all students in the classroom and to provide the needed specially designed instruction and accommodations/modifications for the special education students in the classroom.
In-Class Support aims to provide special education students with the necessary academic tools to help them access and make progress in the general education curriculum.
In-Class Support is supported by special education teachers, general education teachers, special education paraprofessionals, general education paraprofessionals, campus interventionists, campus administrators, district-level special education specialists, and parents.
In-Class Support is when the general education teacher takes the instructional lead, and the special education paraprofessional or other instructional support staff simultaneously observes, monitors, or tutors individual students or small groups of students.
