Kia ora e te whānau,
Thank you to those parents that were able to make it along to last week’s Learning Conferences. I hope as a result of attending these you are clear about the progress your child has made this year and where they are achieving, in regard to the curriculum. Although reasonably simple information, if parents and classroom teachers are aligned, greater achievement can be made by children.
We had a wonderful response to the very first Ilam Bake, a collaboration between the PTA and School Council. Thank you so much for getting behind this fundraiser. With your help, we raised approximately $1500! AMAZING.
As this is the final newsletter for 2022, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Ilam community for your support in what has been another very challenging year. Thank you very much to all of you who have helped the school in some way this year. The impact this involvement has on the children should not be underestimated.
I would like to thank the Ilam School Staff for their work this year. The Ilam community is extremely fortunate to have such highly skilled, dedicated people working in their school.
The Board of Trustees who govern the school do a lot of work behind the scenes ensuring that the school is run according to legislation and that the children benefit as a result. On behalf of the whole Ilam Community, I would like to thank Liz Martyn (Presiding Member), Sean Barnes, Brigit Baker, Kate Miyazaki, Jimmy Chen, Stuart Fleming, Elsamarie Botha and Charlotte McMurtrie for their work this year.
The PTA continues to do a wonderful job of organising a variety of events in the school. Thank you to Tenika Wikatene, Kirsty Clarke, Kate Miyazaki, Rebecca Latimer, Vicki Teesdale, Brigit Baker, Laura Mihaere, Digby Symons, and Danielle McEnaney as well as all of the friends of the PTA for their work this year. A special ngā mihi to Clinton Lloyd who has provided us with gorgeous photos of our tamariki and fantastic lighting for our disco, movie night and Year 6 leavers dinners and other school activities. Clinton, you capture the essence of our Kura and tamariki every time. Below is information on how you can access the photos taken at the Disco.
For those families that are returning next year, we look forward to seeing you at our Start-of-Year Learning Conferences on either Tuesday 31 January or Wednesday 1 February and everyone ‘Ready-to-go’ for an amazing year of learning on Thursday 2 February!
An Ilam Update will be sent out in late January to remind you of the general start-of-the-year information so do look out for it.
All the staff join me in wishing you all a very happy and safe Christmas, New Year and holiday period with family and friends.
Seasons Greetings to you all.
