Kia ora e te Whānau,
And just like that we are over half way through Term 2! Time sure does fly when you are learning a lot and playing with friends.
At the moment I am sending weekly Updates. Some will only have a small amount of information, others a bit more. This Update shares important information about Mr Dolan’s leaving Assembly.
A reminder that next Friday 24 June is a public holiday for Matariki and Monday 27 June school is closed for instruction as we are having a Teachers Only Day. Thank you for your support.

Mr Dolan
Leaving Assembly
As you are aware, our Principal Mr Dolan is leaving Ilam School at the end of Term 2. We plan to celebrate his wonderful leadership with an assembly.
The assembly will take place on Friday 8 July at 9.30am in the School Hall. Please wear a mask if you wish to attend.
Cards for Mr Dolan
We understand you may also like to write Mr Dolan a note or card. We have created a box that will be either located in the office area or outside the office door, depending on the weather. If you would like to add a note or card to our collection box it will be available from Monday 20 June.
School Photos - please ensure tamariki are wearing correct uniform.
On Wednesday 6th July the children will be having their school photos taken. The photos that all children will have are; individual photos and a class photo. There will also be photos taken of the House Captains, School Council, Cultural Leaders and Road Patrol.
If you have more than one child at the school and wish to have a sibling photo taken, please complete the following ‘Sibling Photo Request Form’ by Friday 1st July. If you have any difficulties in filling in the form please don't hesitate to contact the office staff.
Within a few days of the photos being taken we will be sending home a sample photo of your child (this includes sibling photos if requested) with information on how to order photos.
Covid Cases and Winter Illness
Our Covid-19 case numbers still remain very low. We currently have 1 positive covid case. Please continue to report to us if your child contracts Covid-19. You can do this via email admin@ilam.school.nz or by phoning 348 7492.
We have seen a spike in winter illness and many tamariki have contracted a nasty stomach bug.
We ensure the following Health and Safety practices are in place to reduce the spread of any illness in our school:
Continuing to strongly suggest mask wearing. The majority of our Year 4-6 learners and teachers still wear masks.
Good ventilation in classrooms.
Continued focus on hand washing and good hygiene.
We are really appreciative of your willingness to keep your child at home when they are sick or picking them up from school if they become unwell during the day.
Parking on Yellow Lines
We have noticed a number of cars parked on yellow lines on Ilam Road. This makes it dangerous for our tamariki on Road Patrol, as it affects their visibility with oncoming traffic and cyclist merging. Please refrain from parking on yellow lines. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
