Boston University's Summer Journalism Institute: Boston University Summer Journalism Institute gives students ages 15 to 18 the opportunity to expand their skills, experience college life and explore Boston. Each instructor is also a working journalist, so what’s taught is grounded in real-life experience. Each lesson is tied to its practical application, by giving students reporting assignments on campus and in the city. Carnegie Mellon’s Writing & Culture Pre-College Program in English: In this program, you will explore film, art, and culture through historical and contemporary lenses.  You will produce a body of work anchored in what you have learned about digital poetics, about how films are written and made, and how visual design choices express knowledge. The Reynolds Young Writers Workshop at Denison University is an energizing 8-day program for motivated high school students (rising juniors and seniors) who love to write.  For over 20 years, the Reynolds Workshop has brought together young writers who are passionate about writing and eager to connect to a close-knit community of writing friends.  The workshop is held each June on the beautiful campus of Denison University, a leading liberal arts college, in the village of Granville, Ohio. Great Books Summer Program: Great Books Summer Program is thrilled to announce our summer 2022 programs online and on the campuses of Haverford, Pepperdine, Stanford, and Amherst. With our traditional literature and discussion programs, writer's workshops, and literary travel adventures at Oxford, in Madrid and on a Tall Ship, there is a program for everyone. John Carroll University Young Writers Workshop: Students participate in a rigorous and inspiring program that provides an introduction to the art and craft of poetry and short fiction. In morning and afternoon sessions, students study with acclaimed writers, engaging in writing-intensive exercises designed to address the elements of craft. Fir Acres Writing Workshop at Lewis & Clark College: At the Fir Acres Writing Workshop, sixty high school students from across the country come together for two weeks to write and join a community of writers on the beautiful, wooded campus of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Northwestern University's Medill Cherubs: Many of tomorrow’s rock-star journalists can be found in our prestigious program for high school students, the Medill-Northwestern Journalism Institute (MNJI). This five-week summer institute, also known as the cherub program, is for rising seniors seeking the inside scoop on professional journalism and looking to connect with peers who are just as passionate about pursuing a journalism career.  Click here for more information.

Summer Writing Institute at Rhodes College: The Summer Writing Institute at Rhodes College takes place annually for two weeks during June and is a residential academic program committed to developing the critical thinking and writing skills of ambitious high school students who can earn two college credits for the course. The Princeton University Summer Journalism Program: We welcome 35-40 high school juniors (rising seniors) from low-income backgrounds every summer to Princeton's campus for an intensive, 10-day seminar on journalism. The program's goal is to diversify college and professional newsrooms by encouraging outstanding students from low-income backgrounds to pursue careers in journalism. Sewanee's Academic English Program: The Pre-College Academic English Program prepares high school students, ages 14 and up, for success at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend 16 hours each week enhancing their English listening and speaking skills, gaining confidence to lead class discussions, and enhancing their academic reading skills. In addition, students attend workshops on essay writing for university admissions, speaking with admission counselors, finding the right university “fit,” and many more. Outside of class, students meet with American college students as mentors and enjoy a variety of extracurricular activities on “The Domain,”   which is 13,000 acres (5,200 hectares) of natural beauty surrounding the university. University of Massachusetts Juniper Institute for Young Writers: Participants will gain firsthand experience of student life at UMass, living in dorms, eating meals in the university’s award-winning dining halls and participating in programming held in the classrooms of South College, home of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Throughout this immersive writing experience, participants will have the opportunity to interact with the vibrant literary and artistic culture of Western Massachusetts, home of the poets Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, Robert Francis, Robert Frost, changemakers Sojourner Truth and W.
