Each week, the Driehaus Summer Business Institute presents foundational business concepts and activities spanning the core functional areas of business. Learn about entrepreneurship through developing and pitching an original business idea. Hone your marketing or leadership skills; learn the finance, economics, and accounting principles that keep the economy running; or go behind the scenes of Chicago's thriving food, entertainment, and sports scenes. LEAD (Leadership, Education and Development) Summer Business Institute (SBI): The Summer Business Institute (SBI) program is LEAD’s longest running Summer Institute and is considered the “flagship” program. The SBI program exposes scholars to business principles and the skill sets needed for successful business careers. The program challenges them through applied learning experiences often facilitated by college professors, links scholars to corporate executives in business fields and peers with similar aspirations and abilities. During LEAD SBIs, scholars reside and attend classes on-campus at a select number of the nation’s top business schools for three or four weeks. Leading with Heart: An initiative to engage Chicago-area high school students in philanthropy and develop them into strong community leaders. Participating students receive leadership development training and learn about philanthropy while raising much-needed funds for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s Heart Center. Students engage in several sessions and learn all aspects of philanthropy and leadership from vision to execution. They receive coaching from some of Chicago’s leaders representing all aspects of the for-profit and not-for-profit communities.
