BodyInsights: an interactive medical career exploration program designed for young adults who are seeking to gain a better understanding of the healthcare profession.  Through this immersive program, students are guided through organ dissections, suturing, doctor and medical professional lectures, interactive surgery viewing experiences, shadowing opportunities, and counselor-student mentoring. When a student is allowed to explore the medical field first-hand, they gain a perspective that allows them to understand the passion that is within healthcare and the people who dedicate their lives to helping and healing others.  It is with this experience that many students find their own passion. Emory & Henry College Healthcare Career Camps: Emory & Henry College will hold an annual Healthcare Careers Camps for rising high school juniors and seniors. Students who are interested in exploring healthcare careers such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, nursing, athletic training, pharmacy, optometry, medicine or veterinary medicine are encouraged to attend the camp. Rush MedSTEM Explorers: program is designed for Freshman and Sophomore students who are interested in STEM/healthcare careers. Applications open in December for summer program. Duration of the program is June – August. The MedSTEM Pre-Internship is a 6-week program that focuses on the career exploration, college readiness, and career readiness. Students will attend courses two days a week on a variety of topics and present a capstone research project at the end of the 6 weeks. Students will engage in hands-on learning to strengthen communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. In addition to skills development for high education and career, students will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials. By integrating technical knowledge and social emotional learning, MedSTEM Pathways leverages experiential learning for self-efficacy, job readiness, and leadership in the STEM/healthcare fields. Rush MedSTEM Pathways: program is designed for Juniors and Seniors (Sophomores can also apply if 16y.o) who have a strong interest in STEM/healthcare (including veterinary medicine and construction/architecture). Duration of the program is June 21 – July 31, 2021. The Internship is a 6-week, paid, with Rush University Medical Center. Students will have hands-on learning experiences, virtually, in healthcare fields that that they plan to pursue as a career, college and career readiness courses, and a chance to network with other students and healthcare professionals. University of Chicago- Chicago Academic Medicine Program (CAMP): is for seniors who have been accepted into college. CAMP offers a $2,400 stipend, buss pass and tuition is free and intended for minority or disadvantaged students. Click here for more information.

University of Chicago - Research in the Biological Sciences (RIBS): This four-week intensive training program is designed to expose students to a broad range of molecular, microbiological, and cell biological techniques currently used in research laboratories.  Students are immersed in the research experience, giving them a taste of "life at the bench".  Using a project-based approach, the course progresses from a survey of basic lab techniques to the application of current molecular techniques in developmental biology and microbiology.  Click here for more information.

University of Chicago- ResearchHStart: ResearcHStart welcomes high school students from the Chicago and Urbana-Champaign areas to explore exciting careers in cancer research. Participants work full time in the laboratories of established cancer researchers, gaining hands-on experience in areas at the forefront of the field: cancer immunology, bioengineering, experimental cancer therapeutics, cancer disparities and more. Rigorous research training is complemented by career development and skill-building workshops, a cancer-based faculty lecture series, and a network of faculty and peer mentors dedicated to students’ success. Health Care Summer Immersion Program at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy: University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis' Health Care Summer Immersion Program is a seven-day, six-night residential, non-credit, academic enrichment program giving rising sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school the opportunity to explore health care careers and build a foundation for success in college and adjusting to life after high school. University of Illinois at Chicago's Latino Health Science Enrichment Program (LaHSEP): Latino Health Science Enrichment Program (LaHSEP) Track 3, we will offer LaHSEP in-person.  LaHSEP Track 3 is a six-week in-person summer academic enrichment program for incoming first year and first-generation undergraduate students admitted to UIC and/or who will be attending a four-year institution in the fall of 2022.The program provides participants the opportunity to prepare for college by taking Math, English, Chemistry and engaging in research. Additionally, LaHSEP Track 3 allows participants to learn about student resources, resulting in a smoother transition from high school to college. This is a great opportunity for first year undergraduate students with a career goal in medicine or the health sciences to get a jump start before the semester begins and make new friends, meet faculty, and work with staff. A wonderful benefit of participating in LaHSEP Track 3 is that it offers a $600.00 stipend for students who successfully complete the six-week program. The University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine: has designed a four-week in-person intensive summer program for high school juniors and seniors interest in a medical career. Modeled after actual first year Penn Med classes, you’ll gain exposure to the basics of medical training including practical experiences, simulations and live demonstrations. Wake Forest Summer Immersion Neuroscience Institute: Neuroscience is an exciting and rapidly growing interdisciplinary field encompassing the study of the nervous system and its role in regulating behavior. Students will examine the structure of the brain through hands-on dissection, learn how drugs affect the brain and how sensory systems detect stimuli in the environment, visit active neuroscience labs, and conduct exciting neuroscience experiments.
