ACLU Summer Advocacy Program: The ACLU Summer Advocacy Program brings together high school students from across the United States to participate in a firsthand learning experience for the next generation of social justice advocates. During this week-long program in Washington, DC, students participate in electives and seminars led by lobbyists, community activists, lawyers, and ACLU experts to enhance their knowledge of civil liberties, social justice issues, and advocacy campaigns. High School Diplomats: High School Diplomats (HSD) is a scholarship program that brings together high school students from the United States and Japan each summer through two parallel experiences. HSD U.S. provides the opportunity for American and Japanese students to meet at Princeton University for ten days of cultural exchange. Mikva Challenge Summer Fellows: The Mikva Summer Fellows program offers graduating high school seniors the opportunity to gain experience in a political office setting while also developing their own leadership skills and building a team with their peers. Summer Fellows work for 6 weeks, likely June 29th – August 7th, for 21 hours each week. Summer Fellows serve in an assigned local elected official’s office for 16 hours a week and also attend one weekly 5 hour workshop downtown with other Summer Fellows to build community, explore their leadership strengths, and prepare for their next steps after high school.
