The lymphatic system is a special network of vessels carrying lymph (lymphatic fluid) across the body which works in conjunction with the circulatory system. Lymph fluid provides immunity to the body by producing some white blood cells (WBCs), absorbs fat from intestines, maintains of body fluid levels and gets rid of waste products of cells. Lymph nodes are centres where lymph fluid is cleansed. There are around 600 lymph nodes around our body. Some lymphoid organs include the spleen, the thymus, tonsils, the adenoid, bone marrow, the appendix and peyer’s patches.
