At IGIB, we share our excitement for science and our recent discoveries through various events spread over the whole academic year. We host day-long exhibitions, called Open Day, for groups of school and college students who visit our facilities to get to know the infrastructural facilities at IGIB and interact informally with scientists and research scholars. NGOs which work with children who may not be enrolled in regular schools have also been regularly attending the Open Day. Many members of the IGIB faculty work with individual schools and colleges to streamline science curricula, co-curricular activities and projects.
In the wake of the pandemic, we have now commenced our outreach events online. Our most recent initiative is Lab@Home, wherein students are sent out in-house assembled kits and they learn to perform experiments with us that include DNA barcoding for species' identification and meet the good bacteria.
