Pre-Work
For your pre-work, we'd like to ask you to do a few things.
Please read the document titled, "Accountability to the Learning Community." Once you've finished reading the text, please respond to the following:
What is the author saying about a teacher's role in being accountable to the learning community?
What questions do you have after reading?
Please read/revisit the speech, "Ain't I a Woman?" We won't be working specifically with this text, but it provides context for the video you'll work with during the meeting.
Accountability to the Learning Community
Please read the text and then respond to the following:
What is the author saying about a teacher's role in being accountable to the learning community?

Bridge to Practice
The purpose of this bridge to practice is for you to continue to plan for your follow-up responses and to utilize those responses during discussion:
Finish planning for discussion by anticipating the range of student responses and what your follow-up moves might be.
Some reminders
You might find it valuable to practice the follow-up questioning during a PLC before working with students. This will give you an opportunity to see if your follow-up questions are appropriate in the moment or if they need to be revised.
Students may not be used to engaging in the productive struggle that can result from the follow-up questions. You may have to model the academically productive talk that engages students in the process of learning together.
Once you’ve engaged in the conversion with students, please reflect using the following questions
How did it go? What did you notice about student talk when you utilized your follow-up moves?
What do you want to try again or do differently next time?
Please let us know if you have any questions!
