Sóller. Spain. Sustainable Communities

The mobility took place from 5th to 12thth of March 2022.

17 students from Denmark, Portugal , Czech Republic and Finland , plus two teachers from each country, travelled to Sóller, Spain, to attend this project on Sustainable Cities and Communities, one of the 17 topics of Agenda 2030.

On Sunday, we met in the morning to go on excursion to Muleta. We had some very funny ice-breaking activities from 10:00 to 12.30 a.m. We went back home for lunch.

On our first schoolday, we were invited to have breakfast at the school dining room. We tried ensaïmada, a typical pastry in Mallorca. Then, we had the introduction to the topic from the Agenda 2030. we saw the presentations from different countries (school and sustainable House) and presentation IES Sóller project: “Sustainable Communities”. At 11:30, we had two guided tours around Sóller: one was about the use of water in Sóller, and the other one was about the historical background of Sóller. In between both tours, we could go up the rooftop terrace of the Town Council.

On Tuesday, we went to Palma. First, we visited a sustainable house which is located at the university campus. Then, we visited Amadip Esment. There, handicapped people are offered employment opportunities. https://esment.org/es/menu/fundacion/

We had lunch there. then, the bus took us to the center of Palma and we were given some landmarks and, in multinational groups, we had to answer some questions. After it, we had some free time around Palma.

After it, we walked to the Port of Sóller and we had a yoga session at the beach.We returned to Sóller by tram. After lunch, many students decided to meet and go to the fairground attractions in Palma.

On Thursday, we had an outing to Raixa (Manor House) https://raixa.conselldemallorca.cat/es/.

We took the bus from Sóller to Bunyola and walked from Bunyola to Raixa. We went back to school after walk and lunch at school

In the afternoon the students worked in multinational groups on “Sustainable Communities”.

On the last day, we were working on the project again. After it, as it was a speacial celebration, Sant Antoni, we took part in different cultural activities . We had the presentations of all the groups. There was the Sustainable House Exhibition, and then all the students voted for the best Sustainable House. Prizes were given to the winner. Finally, the Certificates of Attendance were given to the students and teachers.

In the evening, we met at school again to have supper together, dance and and farewell!
