Amarante. Portugal. Protecting wildlife and green spaces


Escola Secundaria Amarante


The mobility took place from the 21st to the 27th of November 2022.

16 students from Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic and Spain, plus two teachers from each country, travelled to Amarante, Portugal, to attend this project on Life on Land, one of the 17 topics of Agenda 2030.

The first day, there was an welcoming for all the teachers and students from the different partner schools at Escola Secundária de Amarante. Also, there was a reception by the headmistress of the school Doutora Ana Cristina Santos. Then, there was a short demonstration of the traditional “Concertina” and a guided tour to the school facilities. After it, there were some icebreaking activities with António Portela Santana. It was so funny! After lunch, the students’ presentations about their schools, their countries and their autochthonous fauna and flora took place.

Next day, the students planted trees at Secondary School of Amarante with the presence of the band GNR. After lunch, we visited Viveiro das Plantas Amarante

The following day, as a way to getting to know Portuguese history and backgrounds, we took a bus to visit the city of Guimarães considered the birthplace of Portuguese nation. We went to the Centre “Ciência Viva” . After lunch, there was a guided visit to the Castle of Guimarães and Paço dos Duques.

On Thursday, we went hiking in Marão PR6 and Viveiro das Trutas. We could see how beautiful this area is, and we also lerant a lot of things about the trout breeding.

Last day, we did some sports activities, and after lunch, there were some physics activities with 12th grade physics students. Then, the closure meeting with all the participant teachers took place, followed by by the distribution of the attendance certificates.
