The third meeting of the project took place in Camposampiero, Italy, between the 12th and the 14th of November, 2024 at ISS Newton Pertini. The aim of the meeting was to agree the elements that the refurbished classroom must have to be actually sustainable and think if it is worthy to invest in that to fight the climate change consecuences.
In the fisrt day of our international meeting, the participants were greeted by Italian teachers and students in the morning. The programme started with the opening speeches from Headmistress, Ms Chiara Tonello; the Mayor of Camposampiero, Ms Katia Maccarrone and education councilor, Ms Lorenza Baggio. Students presented their videos with interviews to teachers, students, administrative staff from their home schools: “What’s your school like? Positive and perfectible aspects.”
After a short tour of the school, students attended lessons with host students while teachers were having the meeting about the project management. At about 3 p.m. students made their presentations about sustainable classrooms designs, what changes they would make in a traditional one in order to be sustainable and inclusive. After the presentations and the project assessment, the teachers went to Padua to visit of the Cappella degli Scrovegni.
On the second day of the meeting, students and teachers went to visit a sustainable school in S. Martino di Lupari (PD). The architect and the headmaster presented the building with a tour of the school, showing the improvements made to save energy and being more eco-friendly.
After that the participants went to Cittadella where they made wall walk with a guide. In the afternoon, we visited Asolo, one of the most pincturesque old town centres in Italy, with an English-speaking guide.
On the third and last day of the meeting, the participants took the train from Camposampiero to Mestre to visit the M9 (Museum of the '900s) which is an outstanding example of improvement of a previously degraded area and sustainable architecture.
After lunch, we took a tour in Venice with an English-speaking guide about how water was administered by wells in past times. Finally, we had a goodbye ceremony in Piaza di San Marco where italian team gave all participants their attendance certificates.
