On the second day of our Erasmus+ KA210 "Classrooms for Future" project, we first went to the hill of the "Pierre Loti" with the participants and enjoyed the famous panorama of the Golden Horn. Then, we visited the Santralistanbul Energy Museum located within the campus of Istanbul Bilgi University and completed our tour with a guide. Silahtarağa Power Plant, which was protected and transformed into santralistanbul, was the first urban-scale power plant of the Ottoman Empire. The facility provided electricity to the city from 1911 to 1983, when it was established in the Golden Horn, the oldest industrial region of Istanbul. Students had fun by doing various experiments in the Energy Play Area, where there are 22 interactive units on the ground floor of the museum and where entertainment and science meet.
On the third day of our project meeting, the teachers evaluated the articles, reports and presentations prepared by the students within the scope of the project according to the evaluation rubrics prepared earlier. Then, the group went to the Historical Peninsula, where one can find a large part of the historical artefacts in Istanbul. There they toured Topkapı Palace, Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern and Grand Bazaar.
At the end of the day, they had the opportunity to see many historical artefacts, Bosphorus bridges, palaces, fortresses, mansions and groves of Istanbul with a unique tour in the world's most beautiful Bosphorus, which separates the Asian and European continents.
This was the last day of the 2nd Meeting of the Erasmus+ project "Classrooms for future", which took place in Istanbul. In a final sesion teachers evaluated the project progress, decided how to carry the next steps and made important decisions for the following meetings in Italy and Spain. After that, we had a ceremony to deliver the attendance certificates for all participants and we went to Taksim/Istiklal street to say goodbye to the city. At the end, all participants had to fill in an evaluation form, regarding the activities performed during this reunion.
In conclusion, the meeting met its goals; the activities were held in a relaxing atmosphere, where everybody enjoyed the time spent together, learning and sharing precious information.
All participants thank to the Turkish team for their kindness and hospitality. They made a really great job!
