Email Communications - Preferences

IEEE Collabratec provides the ability to receive notifications via email related to various different engagement or content buckets of the platform. You can set the email notifications globally to one frequency for all to start, then customize the frequency for specific items. 


There are two content categories, Main content/activity buckets and Personalized recommendations.

The next set of items relate to personal recommendations.


Select the Settings tab on the top navigation bar, on the page which follows (your Profile page), select Communication Preferences button (on right).  This brings you to page shown on right.

Note: Most times, the system will force a re-authentication and ask you to log back in. Re-authentication is done for security purposes for certain sensitive settings like your Profile and other items.


Frequency settings available (global):


Provides summary notification of activity in a digest format for each day.

Provides summary notification of activity in a digest format for each week (some activities may not be shown)

Provides summary notification of activity in a digest format for each month (many activities will not be shown)


Custom (individual)

An email is generated for each activity notification; this setting should be used only for more critical or time-sensitive items to avoid receiving too many emails. 

No email notifications will be generated. 

Not advised for invitations, connection requests or mentor requests as those are typically time-sensitive and require fairly timely action.


Settings Guidance


Review each content/activity bucket and determine which setting works best for your level of engagement. Workspace owners, volunteers and others who are active on the platform should make sure their settings match their responsibilities (e.g. A workspace owner who approves new participants and similar functionality).


Active participants should set the following items to Daily or Weekly. Less active participants, Weekly or Monthly.

Other items should be set based on user choice. Can be changed at any time.


Users who are much less active can choose a global setting of monthly. Monthly provides a summary digest, so not all activity will be shown. Your peers who may want to engage with you, especially as fellow Members, and may relate to an important initiative, may not receive timely responses. In this case, make sure you log into the platform once every 7-10 days and check your 'Pending Actions', messaging and notifications.
