What can we do?

In the last phase of our project, we asked ourselves what each of us could do to mitigate climate change.

Saving, reusing and managing water, using sustainable means of transport such as ecological cars, public transport, bicycles and using trains for travel, reducing our waste, using less packaging, reusing and recycling materials in the right way. These are small things, but they can make a difference!

Is that chat really necessary? 📱

Sending e-mails, making video calls, storing documents on online archives and watching streaming series has a significant environmental impact, for example one e-mail consumes 20 g of CO2. In 2020 smartphones have become the most polluting objects on the globe. Before sending a message or a sticker in a chat, think about whether it is really necessary!

Buy less and better! 🏪

When we go to the supermarket, we should try to buy only food and items that are really necessary and not things that will not be used.

Over 100 billion items of clothing are produced every year, and it is essential to adopt the motto "buy better and buy less". When you are about to buy an item of clothing, think about why you are buying it and how many times you will actually wear it.

When you have finished shopping, put all the food in order in the fridge, and when you eat fruit and vegetables try to reuse the peels and stems. If you have leftover food, use them to cook new dishes.

Wear sustainable clothes! 👕

If you choose clothes made of polyester and synthetics, micro-particles of plastics will be released after washing them, which is bad for the environment. Therefore, choose clothes made of bamboo and organic cotton. One third of the carbon footprint in the life of a garment is generated during the use phase, due to washing, drying and ironing. So do not wash them if it's not necessary.

Consume less water! 💧

Fresh water is not an infinite natural resource, which is why it should be used only when necessary. To save water you can perform a few simple actions, such as taking a shorter shower, turning off the tap while brushing your teeth, washing a full load of clothes in the washing machine.

Is car really necessary? 🚗

The CO2 emissions of vehicles pollute the air. Whenever possible, try to get around by bike, on foot and leave your car at home, or take public transport.

Eath sustainable food! 🍏

Reducing the consumption of meat and fish, and paying attention to where they come from, can bring several benefits to our health and that of the planet. It is advisable to adopt a varied diet, consisting mainly of fruit, legumes, vegetables and vegetable proteins, always preferring seasonal products. Try to reduce red meat consumption in particular.

Recycle more to produce less!  ♻️

Reduce, reuse, recycle and recover - following the 4Rs of sustainability helps prevent waste and preserve natural resources. From food to plastic, clothes to paper: recover materials and objects or reuse leftover food in the kitchen, sort waste and recycle it.

Participate in or organise clean-ups once a month in local public spaces, such as parks, beaches. Reuse the same bags when you go shopping and choose to use a water bottle for drinking at work, school or the gym rather than buying a plastic bottle.
