Classes aim to go out at least once a term on study trips. We welcome parents to volunteer to chaperone a small group of children during these trips. Our child to adult ratios are:
4:1 for Kindy
6:1 for Year 1 and 2
10:1 for Year 3 to 6
Study trips are a part of school fees. Parents will not be charged extra for study trips.
Parents will be notified at least a week in advance of the details of any school trips.
As part of our updated Child Safeguarding measures, you are required to
Give permission for your child to attend school trips that take place offsite (outside the Hong Lok Yuen estate)
Complete the online child protection tutorial and have read the relevant school policies to be eligible to join trips as a chaperone
Parental Permission
Click on the read receipt link at the top of the email sent from the school, typically titled “Study Trips (Action Required)”, to grant permission for your child to attend school trips. Until you do this, your child will not be able to participate in trips and will need to remain at school.
Child Protection Tutorial
Some trips will require parental help. Parents must complete a short online child protection tutorial to be eligible to join.
The tutorial takes 10-15 minutes and is available in multiple languages.
Please enter your name exactly as it appears on Orchard/Gibbon to begin the tutorial; otherwise, we will not be able to identify you.
Keep watching until the page shows the ICHK Kindergarten & Primary logo at the very end of the video to complete the tutorial.
Only parents who have completed the tutorial will be invited to join trips.
Contact Fion Ng at fionng@ichkhly.edu.hk if you have any issues accessing the course.
School Policies
After completing the tutorial, please review, acknowledge and agree to the following important policies by completing the Google Forms linked below.
Policy 2.03: Working with Children
Policy 6.07 Parent Volunteers Policy
In addition, please read Policy 2.02 (Child Safeguarding) and 2.05 (Anti-Bullying Policy).
After fulfilling the above requirements, you will be added to the Parent Chaperone group where invitations will be sent. Trip leaders will then select parents to attend the trip.
Children from Year 3 to 6 will participate in overnight camps throughout the year. The site of each camp will vary each year according to cost and availability.
Camps are an extra cost on top of school fees.
The school organises an annual overseas trip during the Easter Break open to students in Years 4-6. This trip is optional and not covered by school fees.
