ICT use is ever present in our world and it continues to evolve and grow. Everyone is expected to have the skills connect, collaborate, consume and create. Media, information and technology literacy is prerequisite for success in most fields of study and work.
We are mindful of the importance of Digital Wellbeing and, with this in mind, we see digital devices as an amplifier for learning, creating, connecting, communicating and problem solving.
Like all tools, digital or physical, we will only use digital devices when it is best tool help students to achieve the desired learning.
We are aware of the effects of screen time. We have made the following guidelines for computer use in the classrooms:
Kindergarten children will rarely use any digital devices.
Children in Years 1 and 2 use digital devices on a limited basis where appropriate to reinforce learning.
Use of Google services and internet searching does not begin until Year 3
1-to-1 device use starts from Year 3
All our children from Year 3 are asked to sign and abide by our ICT user agreements.
Digital Wellbeing
The attached information sheets have been prepared to inform parents about some of the common issues related to Digital Wellbeing. We hope that these will help parents to discuss Digital Wellbeing at home.
Parents are advised that the age limit on the majority on social media accounts is 13 years +
We strongly recommend that parents enforce this limit with their children and do not give Primary School aged children access to social media accounts.
