Playground Leaders

shwmae!

We are the Playground Leaders, croeso to our page.

The Playground Leaders are made up of two children from each class from Years 3-6.

We have also expanded this to the Foundation Phase.

Our aim is to empower children to lead a safe, exciting array of games and activities during break and lunch times. We are promoting inclusion, whilst teaching the children new and innovative playground games.

meet the team

We meet regularly to discuss what is working well, what we can improve and how we can raise money for resources.

We are the Play Makers for 2023-2024

from Y3-Y6

We have lanyards telling everyone we are Playmakers and a folder full of games we can use at breaktimes.

We've been using our folders to learn new games and how to deliver these to our class during break and lunch times.

Some of these games include:

Hot potato

Four corners

Keeper of the keys

Rock Paper Scissors Hoop

Chicken or Hero

Pass the Hoop

Stuck on the Toilet

Jump

We worked with Newport Live to complete the Play Makers course.

Through this, we have further developed our leadership qualities including: organisational skills, communicational skills and teamwork skills.

We went through activities and games that we can deliver to our class mates and develop our abilities to be ambassadors for play and sport.

Play Makers become trainers!

After completing our training we carried out a staff training session for all the Teaching Assistants and Lunchtime Supervisors. We taught them all about our Role as Play Makers using a power point and then we taught them lots of different games they can teach other pupils within the school.

We were really enthusiastic and excited to be leading the training session and had a really good time. We even challenged the staff to play a few games with us.

PLAY GROUND POSTERS

Last year the Playmakers created new Play ground posters to be professionally made and put up around the school. They have now been put up and are proudly on display for us all to see.

Here are a few examples.

our reach assemblies

Each year we record an assembly for the school to talk about our REACH theme and how to use our equipment at play and lunch times properly. We also talk about the importance of following the breaktime rules inorder to keep each other safe and ensure we all have fun.
