Curriculum Design and Development 4: Assessment and Progression

Mae asesu yn rhan hanfodol o ddyluniad y cwricwlwm a'i ddiben cyffredinol o fewn y cwricwlwm yw cefnogi pob dysgwr i wneud cynnydd. Mae’r ddogfen Cefnogi cynnydd dysgwyr: canllawiau asesu yn nodi tair prif rôl ar gyfer asesu:

  • cefnogi dysgwyr unigol yn barhaus o ddydd i ddydd

  • nodi, cofnodi ac ystyried cynnydd dysgwyr unigol dros amser

  • deall cynnydd grwpiau er mwyn ystyried arferion.

I gydnabod y bydd cyflwyno Cwricwlwm i Gymru mewn ysgolion a lleoliadau ledled Cymru yn nodi newid sylweddol yn rôl asesu o fewn addysg, ar lefel genedlaethol ac ar lefel ysgol/lleoliad, rydym wedi datblygu'r dudalen hon i ddarparu adnoddau hwylus i helpu gyda'r prosesau a'r gweithdrefnau asesu sy’n newid yn Cwricwlwm i Gymru.

Assessment is intrinsic to curriculum design and its overarching purpose within the curriculum is to support every learner to make progress. The Supporting Learner Progression: Assessment Guidance identifies three main roles for assessment:

  • supporting individual learners on an ongoing, day-to-day basis

  • identifying, capturing and reflecting on individual learner progress over time

  • understanding group progress in order to reflect on practice.

In recognition that the rollout of Curriculum for Wales in schools and settings across Wales will mark a significant shift in the role of assessment within education, at both a national and a school/setting level.

This document looks at the relationship between assessment and well-being of a learner. It explores how using assessment on an ongoing, day-to-day basis to identify, capture and reflect on individual learner progress provides opportunities to promote the well-being of learners. It offers prompts for practitioners for reflection and consideration of their school’s current practice and how it could be improved.
