Whether pupils have a diagnosis or not, they are still entitled to be assessed for exam access arrangements. If pupils meet the criteria, they could have the following:
- 25% extra time in their exams.
- The use of a scribe (someone to write on their behalf).
- A smaller room to sit the exam.
- Extra rest breaks.
- A reader (someone to read on their behalf).
- The use of a computer to type their answers.

The assessments will usually take place at the end of year 9 and the beginning of year 10. Pupils and parents will be notified of the exam access arrangements as soon as the assessments have been completed.

It is a legal requirement that the assessments are carried out by a suitably qualified professional.
The ALNCo has a MA SEN/ALN with AMBDA
She also has a current Assessors Practicing Certificate which enables her to carry out full dyslexic assessments and can provide a full dyslexic report to support those pupils applying to university.
