Sensory
Hearing or Visual Impairment
Hearing impairment
Pupils with a hearing impairment are monitored every half term by the local authority’s HI team. Regular training is provided to ensure staff deliver the effective strategies when teaching pupils with a hearing impairment.
Visual Impairment
Pupils with a visual impairment are also monitored very closely by the VI team. Staff have had training in supporting pupils with a visual impairment. Arrangements are made for those pupils who need work enlarged and specialised equipment is provided to offer additional support.
Extra- Curricular Activities
At Cynffig, our hearing impaired pupils had the opportunity to participate in the Welsh Deaf Rugby Union taster day in October 2019. Pupils are encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life and some of our HI pupils thoroughly enjoyed performing in our school production of Aladdin in February 2020.
