Complex Medical Needs

Pupils with complex medical needs usually work with the Local Authority’s Complex Medical Team at the Inclusion Service.

Staff at the ALN department have close links with occupational therapists, paediatric nurses, asthma nurses, diabetic nurses, physiotherapists and specialist teachers from the complex medical team.

Pupils have an Educational Health Care Plan that clearly states the pupil’s primary needs and how they need to be supported. This is agreed by the child, their family, the school and health care professionals.

Cynffig has 2 lifts that can be operated by pupils using a swipe card. There is wheelchair access to all education blocks, except block 4.

A child will have their complex medical needs met at school as we will follow specific guidance from the relevant professionals.

At all times, the ALN department welcomes regular communication with families to ensure that we provide the best support possible.
