360 SafeCymru is a resource for schools to self-review their online safety practices.
Its aim is to help schools in Wales to review their online security practices and policies following a specific benchmark.
It's not compulsory for schools to complete it, but as well as being good practice, it is an effective way of ensuring that you pay attention to an important and extensive topic area.
How often does the 360safeCymru resource need to be updated?
Ideally, updating the 360safeCymru resource once in the Autumn term and once in the Summer term would be a good idea. When doing the self-review in the Autumn term, you could then choose an element (or more than one element if you wish) that scored low in terms of the review in order to develop it as a school during the year. There are ideas of the type of activities you can do to develop in the 'Recommendations for improvement' section.
What does the 360safeWales resource show?
When completing the 21 different elements in the review, it is possible to rate your school on a five-level scale (level 1 is the highest score and level 5 is the lowest score). The elements vary from how the school protects data to what program of online Safety education the school offers to its learners. Having completed your self review, a radar graph is produced which gives an overview of the school's attainment compared to the national level for each element and the standards for reaching the online Safety Mark (accreditation which must be paid for to complete if you wish). It is also possible to download a report of the school's attainment in 360safeCymru as a PDF if you wish.
